Last year, we started a new club project. In partnership with the Out Of The Cold program, we planned, prepared and served dozens of meals to marginally housed guests.
We liked doing it. Helping other people feels good. We were working on a 2020 reprise when COVID-19 got in the way.
Patricia, who leads this effort for our club, worked out a solution with OOTC and Agincourt Community Services Association. We delivered bagged lunches to ACSA, who redistributed to marginally housed clients around Scarborough.
The group prohibition meant scaling down. 2019’s dinner for 70, sleepover, and 30 breakfasts and lunches turned into only 50 lunches.
So, on a cool, grey Easter morning, we set off to deliver bags with a couple of sandwiches, fruit, granola bars, a bottle of water and a juice box. It’s so much less than we planned. But, with only three of us able to work on this, it was all we could do – for now.
