Wherever you go, people are hungry. So we decided to help a little bit.

In April, 2019, the Scarborough Cedarbrae Golden Mile Lions Club planned, prepared and served dinner for about 70 marginally housed guests. We worked with the Out Of The Cold program to coordinate this event.

Thanks to Agincourt’s Knox United Church, our guests could spend the night indoors. When morning came, we served breakfast and gave them a bagged lunch as they left.

GlobalMedic, a registered Canadian charity, stopped by to provide individual kits of hygiene products as well.  In addition to non-emergency service like this, GlobalMedic strives to save lives by providing short-term, rapid response in the wake of disasters and crises, both at home and abroad.

The Scarborough Cedarbrae Golden Mile Lions Club is proud to begin this new relationship with the Out Of The Cold program. Their program strives to respond in a meaningful way to the basic physical needs of shelter, food and warm clothing for the less fortunate members of our society.

Most of our club was able to help out with shopping or food prep. Some family and friends joined us, too.
